Love Hate Relationship With Gyms

Hi. I’ve been going to Spice for about six years now on and off. I’ve had a love hate relationship with gyms for probably more than about 15 years. I start with the best intentions and then find excuses not to go even though I do enjoy being there. Spice has been the one that I’ve stuck with the longest because I find it really good to have the small group environment.

Everyone’s very supportive and if I don’t go I feel like I’m letting the team down

Why I started trying to go to Spice more often is because I had so many aches and pains my knees used to hurt all the time and I found first thing of a morning it was very hard to sort of move around. Went to a physio and didn’t really get a lot of relief there so I joined up, went along to Spice with some friends and just kept going back. Now I love skipping. Everyone jokes about how much I do love skipping. But I can do that very easily now and just generally get about a lot more without the pains in my knees and other joints so it’s been really good.

I love the way that the classes are structured. It gives you challenges but you can also work at your own pace. There’s always something different happening. We support each other and push each other to sort of go that little bit further when you think that, "Oh I just can’t go any further." It’s just you always know that it’s not long until that next thing and you can just give that little bit extra all the time.
